sprouting threads is a subscription-based children's clothing service. we help busy parents style their children as they grow each season.  We feature several unique elements to manage parents' unique clothing needs:


Adjustable outfit quantity & delivery frequency.  Receive seasonal or monthly deliveries of two to five outfits.  Keep the pieces you want, and return the rest.  Our $20/order styling fee is waived when keeping over $60. 


Automatic reminders.  We remind you of upcoming shipments to allow for sizing, style preference & delivery frequency adjustments, or to pause your shipments.


Boutique brands, your style. Parents build their initial style profile with our simple online tool. We then carefully select outfits from our inventory of over 50 top children's clothing lines.  The more you use the service, the better we tailor selections to suit your needs. 


reThreads.  Kids often outgrow their clothes before they wear out; parents can opt to send in outgrown pieces as reThreads, and receive credit toward future outfits all while contributing to the 'circular economy.'  Families looking for a broader range can opt to purchase reThreads in their orders as well.


Preschool-to-elementary-to-tweenl.  We style for ages 2-12.  They have developed a flaire, may still like our help or want to join us to create a profile for our stylists!!

the management team


Jennifer and Ripley Martin started sprouting threads to address a need they have experienced first-hand with their two growing kids. As working parents, they spent a lot of free time making sure the kids had the right size clothes that were season appropriate, and frequently sorting out too-small clothes to consign or donate. They thought there should be a better way to manage this for all of the busy parents out there, and started the service soon thereafter.

jennifer martin, co-founder


Jennifer is responsible for day-to-day operations. She manages customer and vendor relations, customer acquisition, merchandising & procurement, technology needs, and builds and runs back-office operations.  

Jennifer brings 20 years of experience in high-end multi-channel retail, where she has held a range of executive positions in purchasing and category management.  Most recently, she was employee #3 with Plum Market, a multi-format specialty grocer, where she ran apothecary and center-store operations.  She has also held store leadership positions with Whole Foods Market.  Jenn is proud that her mom made her favorite dresses when she was growing up. She holds a BS from Michigan State University.

ripley martin, co-founder


Ripley is responsible for strategy, business model and marketing plans. Ripley is an executive with Royal Philips, where he is responsible for Healthcare Strategy. Prior to Philips, he was a Principal with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he worked in the firm's Strategy, Healthcare, and Industrial Goods practices.

He holds an MBA w/ high distinction from the University of Michigan and BA in Economics from Colby College. Ripley’s favorite threads from when he was a kid had to be either his fluorescent-orange ski jacket or acid-washed jeans. He and Jennifer live outside of Boston with their two kids and Golden Retriever, Otis.
